The Downtown Area Plan will be an action-oriented document that helps guide Town decisions in Downtown and the Jones Ferry Road Area. Over the next 9 months, the Town will host a variety of meetings, events, and engagement opportunities that will be open to the public.

Community Forum at The Drakeford Library Complex
This event will showcase the draft Downtown Area Plan to the community, and will provide various ways for community members to react and offer feedback, as well as discuss how we achieve the vision and goals of the plan.

Over the years, the Town of Carrboro has taken many progressive steps to create a welcoming, sustainable, and innovative community. The Downtown Area Plan project is the next step along this path, with a concentrated focus on downtown and the Jones Ferry Road area. The Town’s 2022 Carrboro Connects Comprehensive Plan outlined a 10- to 20-year strategy for the future of Carrboro. Throughout the planning process, the Town will host a variety of community meetings, surveys, and engagement opportunities to allow the Carrboro community to help shape the vision for Downtown Carrboro. Visit this site regularly for updates and new engagement opportunities!
Project Coordinator
Town Staff lead the work with the consultant to develop the Plan, and the community to ensure the implementation of the Plan.
Building on the community's vision from the comprehensive plan, staff help to continue the foundational elements of this project to advance racial equity and address climate change.

Advisory Board Meeting 3
The team presented a preliminary draft of the Downtown Are Plan to advisory boards for review and feedback. This meeting was recorded.
Community Partner Small Group Meetings
Small group meetings from 9:30am to 12pm to review current drafts and continue refining the plan in preparation for upcoming community events.
Downtown Area Visioning Survey
A brief survey to help us build on the priorities set forth in the Carrboro Connects Comprehensive Plan. The questions in this survey further explored the Carrboro Connects vision of a well-planned and designed downtown area that supports public investment and enhances the quality of life of our community.
Community Input Session at The ArtsCenter - Continued!
Thanks to all who joined us at The ArtsCenter for our continued input session! We were so glad to hear from you about your ideas about prefernces for streetscape and public space improvements, plants and landscapes in the downtown area, and development ideas for specific parts of the downtown area.
